Recently this question was asked me in another forum. My answer follows:
Yes, there will be a CD made of the seminar I'm doing at the NGH convention this summer. It can be purchased from NGH after the convention. This is a few months away, you may want to purchase my book now, go to: http://www.solvingthesmokingpuzzle.com/products.shtml
The book is designed to educate the corporate executive about smoking cessation programs — what works and doesn’t work, and it does do that. However, within the chapters most of the powerful parts of the program are also disclosed. It’s just not written in the same way it would be if it were written for consulting hypnotists.
One important part of the puzzle is that the focus of any smoking program should not be about the reasons they need to quit (they know that), but rather, why they think they need the cigarette. Destroy those erroneous beliefs and you’ll have much greater success. For example, many smokers have the belief that they will gain weight. I used to shake off that belief, by saying something like, “You won’t gain weight, don’t worry about that,” while thinking to myself, “What is he/she worrying about gaining weight? How can that compare with living a healthier longer life?” However, I was wrong. The smoker, and for this one it’s usually women, will return to smoking as soon as they gain a couple pounds. Their fears are actualized and the subconscious turns the switch to, SMOKE NOW!
What I now do is go through the reasons why this false belief of gaining weight is prevalent in our society and also the reasons why possibly the smoker gained weight in the past. Many stop smoking with the idea, “No matter what I do, I’ll never put a cigarette in my mouth again!” Then they experience withdrawal and in order to distract they shove unhealthy food into their mouth. It might start with a cookie now and then. This doesn’t change things too much but it quickly progress to soda, candy and cakes, and in a few weeks they can’t get their jeans on! Stopping smoking didn’t cause the weight gain, their lack of understanding, and lack of planning did. Smokers tell other smokers that it’s a fact, they will gain weight and this belief along with reinforcement from their own past unsuccessful attempts to quit and gaining a few pounds, coupled with the massive brainwashing in the media about this, causes the wholehearted erroneous belief that when they stop smoking they will gain weight! Beliefs such as this must be cleared out in order to obtain a high percentage of permanent successes.
We all know, or should know, the rule of our mind that says, what is expected has a powerful tendency to be realized. There are many false beliefs which cause smokers to think they need to smoke; it relaxes them, it helps with stress, it helps them concentrate, etc. etc. These are more powerful and problematic then most consulting hypnotists think they are. Make sure that their conscious mind understands the truth — that smoking is not doing what they think it’s doing, and usually it’s doing exactly opposite of what they think it’s doing. Then compound in the new correct beliefs during hypnosis.
This is only a small part of Solving the Smoking PuzzleTM, which is an exciting and enjoyable way to finally get to the causes of the problem and erase them permanently.
I’m posting this also on my new blog at: http://www.solvingthesmokingpuzzle.com/blog/ . Comments and questions are appreciated there.
Hope it helps,
